Emmy-winning actor Billy Porter has made the difficult decision to sell his house amidst the ongoing Hollywood strikes. In response, Porter has expressed his strong dissatisfaction towards Disney CEO Bob Iger.

In an interview with the Evening Standard, Porter, known for his role on FX’s “Pose,” announced his decision to put his house up for sale.

“Due to the strike, I don’t know when we’ll be able to resume work,” said Porter. “As an artist, until you achieve financial stability, which I haven’t yet, you still live paycheck to paycheck. I had plans to be involved in a new movie and television show starting in September. None of that is happening now.”

Porter referred to a July report in Deadline, where an anonymous studio executive discussed the strategy of studios allowing the strikes to continue until union members are financially strained.

“To the person who said, ‘We’re going to starve them out until they have to sell their apartments,’ well, they’ve already starved me out,” Porter remarked.

The Writer’s Guild of America has been on strike since May, while the Screen Actors Guild has been on strike since July with no resolution in sight. Both unions are advocating for improved wages in the era of streaming and protections against AI, seeking a contract agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

According to NBC News, the continued strikes are causing financial strain for Hollywood writers and actors.

In the interview, Porter called out Bob Iger for his comments. Iger faced criticism after stating on CNBC that the demands of the striking actors are unrealistic and unsettling.

“To hear Bob Iger say that our requests for a living wage are unrealistic, while he earns $78,000 a day?” Porter exclaimed. “I don’t have words for it, except: fuck you.”

As of now, there has been no response from representatives of Porter or Iger to Insider’s request for comment.
