Joe Biden Slams President Obama for Lack of Grace in Emails from Hunter’s Laptop
In a series of emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop in 2010, then-Vice President Joe Biden criticized President Obama for allegedly plagiarizing his father’s speeches. The emails reveal Hunter’s quote of Obama’s words from a pro-union speech at Laborfest in Milwaukee, which he sent to his father’s personal email account, [email protected].
Hunter questioned where Obama got the language from and expressed his surprise that the president did not include Biden’s signature phrase, “the long walk up a short flight of stairs.” Biden replied to his son, stating, “No grace.” These emails suggest that Hunter was implying that Obama had borrowed language from Biden’s 2008 campaign speeches.
During his campaign, Biden frequently discussed the impact of job loss on families, emphasizing the importance of work beyond just a paycheck. He talked about work being tied to dignity and respect. Biden’s speeches mentioned the emotional devastation experienced by families when faced with job loss or foreclosure, using the “long walk” metaphor.
It is noteworthy that Biden’s criticism of Obama’s speech is significant due to his past plagiarism allegations. His first failed presidential campaign in 1988 collapsed under the weight of such accusations. Biden also plagiarized a paper during his first year at Syracuse University College of Law. This incident involved using parts from a published law review article without proper citation or quotation marks, resulting in disciplinary action from the dean.
The [email protected] email address, which Biden used for personal communication with his family, appears multiple times in the email exchanges on Hunter’s laptop. The use of “auks” is a nod to the mascot of Archmere Academy, the high school attended by Biden and his son.
In a separate revelation, Casey Owens, Biden’s niece and Hunter’s cousin, sent an email to the “auks” account in May 2011, praising Biden for his remarks during the opening session of the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue. The email was later forwarded to Hunter, Biden’s late son Beau, and Biden’s sister Valerie. Another email from the “auks” account, signed “Love Dad,” was sent to Hunter in June 2011, referring to their plans for dinner and spending the night together.
No official response has been issued by the White House, Obama’s office, or Hunter’s lawyer in relation to these emails. For any further information or story tips, please contact [email protected].
