The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce will recognize and celebrate the achievements of five exceptional individuals and organizations at its annual awards ceremony on October 26th at the Colonie Country Club. The esteemed winners are as follows:
Lifetime Achievement: Margaret Barkman, the esteemed owner of Barkman Farms, and Gregory Turner, the proprietor of Burt Anthony Associates.
Business of the Year: LiveWell Group, formerly known as The Spinney Group.
Community Spirit: The Bethlehem Central Middle School Parent Teachers Organization.
Youth Entrepreneur: Brendin Winfield, the enterprising owner of B.W. Property Care.
Let’s take a closer look at what makes each of these winners remarkable:
Margaret Barkman recently retired from her long-standing ownership of Barkman Farms in Bethlehem. Throughout the years, she provided the community with seasonal flowers, holiday trees and wreaths, exceptional customer service, and valuable educational resources. She is not only respected as a steward of the land but also recognized for her unwavering support of the local community.
Greg Turner, the president of Burt Anthony & Associates, has been a dedicated member of the chamber’s board of directors for a significant period. Burt Anthony & Associates, an independent insurance company, has been serving clients in the Capital Region for over 50 years. Turner’s commitment to the agency dates back to 1980 when he joined the firm, eventually purchasing it in 1996.
The LiveWell Group, initially established as The Spinney Group in 1984 by Rex Ruthman and Edward Feinberg, is now managed by the second generation of the Ruthman and Feinberg families. Led by Morgan Ruthman as president and CEO, the organization also benefits from the expertise of vice presidents Samantha Raynor, Ross Feinberg, Alexander Ruthman, and Jason Raynor, each excelling in their respective fields.
Brendin Winfield’s entrepreneurial journey began at the age of 16 when he used his earnings to purchase a truck, launching his own lawn mowing and landscaping business, B.W. Property Care. Alongside his brother, Winfield also co-owns a power-washing company. Despite his young age, Winfield actively participates in school athletics and is expected to graduate from Ravena Coeymans Selkirk High in 2023.
The Bethlehem Central Middle School Parent Teachers Organization (PTO) has displayed unparalleled creativity in supporting and engaging with students and staff, particularly during the challenging times brought about by the pandemic. The PTO also plays a crucial role in assisting families within the district, providing them with food security, school supplies, holiday gifts, and addressing their daily and emergency needs. Additionally, the PTO offers grants to teachers for special youth programs and experiences, including author visits, specialized equipment, and social events.
The chamber’s celebration is open to the public and will commence at 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.BethlehemChamber.com.
