The highly-anticipated shark movie, “Meg 2: The Trench,” premiered with an impressive $30 million, securing the second spot.
In its third week, “Oppenheimer” ranked third with $28.7 million in ticket sales.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” debuted in fourth place with $28 million, followed by “Haunted Mansion,” which earned $8.9 million in its second weekend.

Total box office earnings for the three-day weekend were estimated at $176.4 million. The year-to-date total stands at $6.1 billion, marking a 23% increase compared to last year’s figures at this time, according to Comscore.
