Bally’s Corporation is making a significant investment in the Bronx by introducing a new free shuttle bus service starting on October 1st. This service is part of Bally’s takeover of the former Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point and aims to enhance the experience for their patrons while demonstrating their commitment to the community. Brian Crowell, the general manager of Bally’s Golf Links, expressed confidence in the shuttle bus service and its ability to elevate the overall experience for their customers.
The Bally’s Bus, a 20-passenger vehicle that is wheelchair accessible, will operate from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, making a loop every 30 minutes. The decision to provide this shuttle bus service was made after discussions with elected officials and business leaders who emphasized the need for transportation between the Ferry Point golf course, surrounding neighborhoods, and key commercial corridors. Bally’s also has plans to expand their presence on the Ferry Point property, including applying for a state license to open a casino. These developments are expected to boost tourism in the area.
The official shuttle bus route, which will be announced soon, will consist of 10 stops. This includes stops at Bally’s Golf Links, Lafayette Avenue, Hutchinson River Parkway, Cross Bronx Expressway Extension, East Tremont Avenue, Randall Avenue, Bruckner Boulevard, Waterbury Avenue, Westchester Square Subway, and Hutchinson River Parkway. The state Senator Nathalia Fernandez and other Bronx officials commended this initiative, recognizing the positive impact it will have on transit options and local businesses. Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson emphasized the potential for economic growth and the promotion of cultural establishments through the Bally’s shuttle.
Bally’s partnership with the Bronx community has received widespread support. Assemblyman Michael Benedetto, Councilwoman Marjorie Velazquez, and the Throgs Neck Business Improvement District all lauded the benefits this shuttle bus service will bring to the community, including increased recognition and support for local businesses. The Trump Organization, who previously operated the Ferry Point links, sold their contract to Bally’s in a multi-million dollar deal. In addition to taking over the lease for the 180-acre site, Bally’s plans to purchase the 17 acres the golf course sits on and donate another 17 acres to the Parks Department, pending state approval. Bally’s Corporation, with its portfolio of casinos and online betting platforms, is well-positioned to make a positive impact in the Bronx and contribute to the growth of the local economy.
