Authorities have discontinued an alert released by the California Highway Patrol on Saturday evening regarding the abduction of an 11-month-old boy by his mother’s boyfriend earlier in the day.
The details surrounding the recovery of the baby and whether the alleged gang member is in custody have not been disclosed by CHP.
An active gang member, 30-year-old Adonis Childress, took Jeremiah Montgomery at approximately 10 a.m. in Los Angeles. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous, as reported by the Endangered Missing Advisory.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Childress was involved in a dating relationship with the baby’s mother. The abduction followed a series of events that began at around 8 a.m., when an argument between Childress and the mother escalated into a physical assault. Police allege that Childress choked and repeatedly punched the mother, causing her to lose consciousness and breaking her nose.
At 10 a.m., Childress left the injured woman at a hospital in West Hills, located at the 7300 block of Medical Center Drive. He then fled with the baby, the woman’s cellphone, and her car, according to police.
The mother and her family repeatedly pleaded with Childress to return the child, but he consistently refused. Notably, Childress is not the biological father of the baby, as stated by the police.
