Avoid Dangerous Fires: Generac Recalls 60,000+ Portable Generators for Burn Hazard

Generac recalls over 60,000 portable generators for fire and burn hazards.

The fuel tanks of the recalled generators have a valve issue that can cause excess pressure and fuel expulsion when opened, leading to fire and burn hazards.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission states that Generac Power Systems has received reports of 27 overheating incidents, including three severe burn injuries.

The recall affects approximately 64,000 generators sold at various home improvement and hardware stores from April 2011 to June 2023, ranging in price from $3,300 to $3,650.

Consumers are advised to stop using the generators and contact the manufacturer for a free repair kit.
