Authorities Searching for Group of Thieves Involved in Mall Robbery in Glendale

Police are currently searching for a “flash mob” of suspects who robbed an Yves Saint Laurent store at the Americana at Brand mall in Glendale. The incident took place at around 4:50 p.m. on Tuesday when a large group of at least 30 individuals flooded the store. According to Sgt. Victor Jackson of the Glendale Police Department, the suspects stole clothing and other merchandise before fleeing on foot and in multiple vehicles. The estimated loss is approximately $300,000.

These “flash mob” burglaries involve a well-coordinated group rushing into a store, overpowering staff, and seizing control. The suspects quickly grab as much merchandise as possible before making their escape. The entire crime was captured on widely circulated video footage.

Glendale Mayor Dan Brotman expressed deep concern over the incident, stating, “Yesterday, a brazen group of individuals orchestrated a coordinated attack on the Yves Saint Laurent store at the Americana at Brand. This calculated criminal act not only resulted in the theft of valuable merchandise but also posed a threat to the safety and well-being of our community.”

The mall’s owner, Rick Caruso, is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects involved in the crime. In a statement, a representative from Caruso emphasized their commitment to the security of their guests, tenants, residents, and employees, stating, “Our company’s top priority is to maintain a safe and family-friendly environment across all of our properties, and we will not tolerate any criminal activity.”

Anyone with information regarding the case is urged to call the Glendale Police Department at 818-548-4911. For those who wish to remain anonymous, they may contact Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS or visit the website www.lacrimestoppers.org.
