A man is facing murder charges after allegedly killing his girlfriend.

The investigation into the disappearance of Margret Dubignon, also known as “Mellow Yellow,” began on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. when Thomaston officers were called to W. County Road. Family members reported her missing, stating they had not seen or spoken with her since Thursday, Oct. 19.
Authorities conducted a welfare check at Dubignon’s apartment but did not find her. It was discovered that her boyfriend, Freddrick Durham, who lived with her, was also missing along with Dubignon’s car.

The Thomaston Police Department placed Dubignon on the Georgia Crime Information Center as a missing person and continued to investigate. Later, family members discovered a body believed to be Dubignon inside a large suitcase in her apartment closet.
The Upson County coroner confirmed the identity of the body as Dubignon.

Thomaston investigators believe Durham, who took Dubignon’s vehicle, is now a suspect in her homicide. Atlanta Police Department and Georgia State Patrol located the vehicle in Atlanta within two hours and arrested Durham.
As a result of the investigation, Durham has been charged with felony murder, concealing a death, tampering with evidence, and theft of a motor vehicle. Additional charges may be added pending further investigation.
“This was a horrific crime and an extremely painful event, yet the family, in spite of their emotions, were incredibly composed, supportive, and cooperative throughout today’s investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with them,” wrote the Thomaston Police Department on Facebook.
