At 16 years old, Elle Fanning was subjected to a hurtful statement when she was called ‘unf—able’, a remark that caused her to lose out on a movie role.
During an interview hosted by The Hollywood Reporter, Fanning, who is now 25, shared that she had the same team since she was 8 or 9 years old and was very protected. She said, “This is an interesting story that I was like, ‘I’ve never said this’ but I’m like, ‘I’ll say it at the table, maybe!’… I was trying out for a movie. I didn’t get it. I don’t even think they ever made it, but it was a father-daughter road trip comedy.”
Fanning recently revealed that her management had kept unfavorable feedback on her audition from her, but an “outside party” eventually disclosed it. “I was literally 16 years old and this person said, ‘Oh, she didn’t get the father-daughter road trip comedy because she’s unf—able.”, she stated.

Although Fanning’s management filtered out damaging remarks, this one hit her hard. She stated, “It’s so disgusting,” and acknowledged that such behavior happens all the time in the industry.
“I laugh at it now, like, ‘What a disgusting pig!’”
