Aug. 13 (UPI) — Ashley Judd, the talented actress and adventurer, delighted her fans on Instagram by sharing photos of her hiking expedition in the breathtaking Swiss Alps. This adventure comes two years after a harrowing leg injury she suffered while traveling in Africa.
In her caption for the stunning photo gallery, 55-year-old Judd reflects on her incredible journey to recovery, stating, “After enduring 5 breaks in my right leg, a paralyzed foot, and the fear of possible amputation, all while hemorrhaging, I am proud to say that my leg and I have made remarkable progress in the 2.5 years since the accident in the Democratic Republic of Congo.”
Judd expresses her gratitude to the Congolese people who saved her life, as well as the skilled surgeons, neurologists, and physical therapists who played a vital role in her extraordinary recovery. She concludes her caption by asking her followers how they are celebrating their own blessings, accompanied by the hashtags #switzerland #ch #ticino #congo.
Prior to her Alpine adventure, Judd embarked on a research trip to Africa in February 2021 to study the endangered Bonobos ape species. Unfortunately, she suffered a severe leg injury when she tripped over a tree, resulting in multiple fractures. Following an eight-hour surgery in a South African hospital, Judd underwent intensive physical therapy for several months.
In addition to her personal challenges, Judd has also endured the tragic loss of her mother, renowned country music star Naomi Judd, who sadly took her own life at the age of 76 in 2022.
