A 37-year-old man was apprehended on Monday in connection with a shooting that left at least four individuals critically wounded at a restaurant in Downey.
The authorities responded to the incident at Mambo Grill, located on Downey Avenue between Second and Third streets, at approximately 1:10 a.m. on Saturday. Lieutenant Maria Villegas of the Downey Police Department stated that officers were alerted to a shooting.
All of the victims were transported to a hospital in critical condition, as reported by ABC7.
According to witnesses, Temo Gaxiola and his female companion were escorted out of the establishment earlier in the evening due to disruptive behavior, according to authorities cited by ABC7.
“After leaving the premises, the suspect returned a few minutes later driving a dark colored SUV southbound on Downey Avenue,” stated the Downey police in a statement to ABC7. “The suspect then fired an undisclosed firearm inside the vehicle in the direction of the establishment before speeding away and disappearing from sight.”
Gaxiola, a resident of Simi Valley, was subsequently arrested on Monday without any resistance and identified as a suspect, revealed Villegas.
The authorities do not believe that the woman who was present with Gaxiola at the restaurant is a suspect, clarified Villegas.
