Confederation of British Industry Abandons Annual Conference
The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has decided to cancel its annual conference due to ongoing allegations of workplace misconduct.
Typically attended by the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and influential figures from the business world, the conference serves as a platform to discuss critical business policy issues.
The CBI, which usually hosts the conference in the autumn, has recently removed the event from its upcoming schedule, as reported by The Sunday Times.
Instead, the organization is planning an alternative event towards the end of 2023.
The CBI aims to rebuild its reputation following a series of misconduct allegations earlier this year, including reports of rape at the CBI’s summer party in 2019 and inappropriate comments made to female staff members.
Cancelled: The conference is usually attended by the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition, as well as city bigwigs
In an effort to rebrand itself, the CBI recently announced a list of over 40 new events.
