In the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to reverse Roe v. Wade and amidst months of protests targeting justices’ homes, manufactured ethics scandals, and undisclosed leaks regarding the Dobbs opinion, both the media and political pundits have launched a reckless campaign to delegitimize the court and its rulings.
The left has been calling for structural changes to the court, with over 30 “progressive” groups recently joining forces in an attempt to “save democracy” by restructuring the court to align with their partisan goals.
However, these dangerous efforts have been strongly rejected by the American people.

According to a recent Wall Street Journal report, a remarkable 91% of Americans believe that an independent judiciary is crucial for safeguarding our civil liberties. The Mason-Dixon poll, released recently, also reveals that 72% of Americans believe the politicization of the Supreme Court undermines judicial independence, and 59% oppose attacks on the integrity of certain justices.

Despite numerous media stories questioning the ethics of certain court members, particularly Justice Clarence Thomas, 69% of Americans are against Congress taking control and establishing rules for judicial ethics. The Mason-Dixon poll, conducted by the First Liberty Institute, surveyed 1,100 registered voters nationwide between May 30th and June 2nd.
Despite complaining about a conservative Supreme Court and making wild accusations of ethical misconduct, all in an attempt to give the Democratic Senate control over the court’s ethics governance, the radical left has failed to convince the public of the court’s illegitimacy.
Fortunately, the American people see through these threats and schemes, acknowledging them as acts of pure political revenge that endanger the civil liberties of all citizens.
The opposition to the left’s most radical idea, court-packing, remains strong, with 68% of Americans opposing it.
Up until now, President Joe Biden has remained neutral on court restructuring. “The last thing we need is for the Supreme Court to become a political football, where whoever has the most votes gets what they want,” Biden said in a “60 Minutes” interview just before the 2020 election. “Presidents come and go, but Supreme Court justices remain for generations.”
In 2021, the president formed a 34-member commission tasked with reviewing various proposals to change the court, including adding seats and imposing term limits. However, the commission’s final report did not make any significant recommendations.

In recent months, the progressive left has focused its criticism on the court’s conservative justices, especially Justice Clarence Thomas. Frustration with Thomas’s consistent originalist perspective has led to baseless allegations of ethical misconduct and calls for his resignation.
