Aug. 1 (UPI) — Amazon announced on Tuesday that its remote health program, Amazon Clinic, is now accessible nationwide in the United States.
The program, which was introduced in November, provides direct access to doctors through video visits on the Amazon app and Amazon.com nationwide. It also offers message-based consultations in 34 states.
“Today, we’re excited to announce that Amazon Clinic is now available to customers in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., offering more people easy access to licensed clinicians for virtual care,” stated Nworah Ayogu, Chief Medical Officer and General Manager of Amazon Clinic.
The program initially launched in 32 states and has received a 96% customer satisfaction rating.
Under this program, customers can choose from a range of conditions, such as acne, allergies, acid reflux, erectile dysfunction, and hair loss. They are then connected to a licensed provider who can issue a treatment plan and send prescriptions to the pharmacy of their choice. Birth control plans and prescriptions are also available, excluding intrauterine devices.
“Amazon Clinic removes barriers by helping customers treat their everyday health concerns wherever they are, at any time of day. And they can see the cost before they start the visit,” Ayogu added.
This announcement follows Amazon’s partnership with One Medicine in February, which expanded the availability of 24/7 video and messaging chats with clinicians.
Amazon Clinic builds upon the company’s existing healthcare services, including Amazon Pharmacy, which launched in 2020 and allows customers to check medication prices and transfer prescriptions.
In January, the company introduced RxPass, a $5 monthly addition to Amazon Prime memberships that provides access to generic medication for about 80 conditions.
“By creating a transparent and simple healthcare experience, we aim to make healthcare more accessible for everyone. We are thrilled to bring Amazon Clinic to a wider customer base, and we are actively working to expand the range of treatable conditions in the coming months,” said Ayogu.
