TORONTO – Alek Manoah is making a move to double-A.
The Toronto Blue Jays pitcher, Alek Manoah, will be starting for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Sunday in an effort to regain his throwing form. He will be facing the Portland Sea Dogs, the double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox in Maine.
John Schneider, manager of the Blue Jays, emphasized the importance of exposing Manoah to an environment that closely resembles Major League Baseball. He states, “You’re playing under the lights and have people announcing the batters that are coming up and you have an actual bat boy instead of a player running to grab the bats. I think it’s just the logical next best thing for him.”
After struggling this season, Manoah was sent down to the minors on June 6. In his last outing against the Houston Astros, he was unable to get out of the first inning.
