Prepare to be spooked! An artist has taken artificial intelligence to new eerie heights by transforming notable figures, including President Joe Biden and Beyoncé, into iconic Halloween characters.
Duncan Thomsen, a freelance film editor, employed the generative AI program Midjourney to create these bone-chilling renditions. Among his creations are Biden as Freddy Krueger, Beyoncé as a witch, former President Donald Trump as a pumpkin, and Elon Musk as a scarecrow.
Thomsen expressed his fondness for the Elon Musk transformation, stating, “I love the Elon Musk one — I like the fact he looks like a Hollywood villain. There is a calmness in his face — he could be a crow man that would take on Batman.”
Thomsen’s bone-chilling collection also features Madonna as a witch, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson as Uncle Fester, and U.K. Parliament member Priti Patel as both a zombie and a werewolf. He even transformed current U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak into Dracula.
Reflecting on his creations, Thomsen remarked, “The Donald Trump pumpkin has caught something about him, especially his orange-ness. I am astonished at what AI can do.”
These AI-powered transformations are not the first of their kind. Other artists have previously used AI software to reimagine notable figures. President Biden, former President Barack Obama, and Prince William, for example, were transformed into real-life Kens, while Kate Middleton was transformed into a vision of Barbie.
Additionally, AI has sparked controversy among creatives, particularly actors, who fear their name and likeness may be used without compensation in future projects.
Last week, Meta unveiled AI bots that utilize celebrities’ likenesses. For instance, Kendall Jenner’s voice was used by an AI bot named Billie, while Tom Brady’s bot took on the persona of Bru. This move was met with criticism for being “creepy.”
While AI has revolutionized the medical field and brought about innovative advancements in disease treatment and patient care, chatbots have faced scrutiny for their alarming responses and cheating tendencies in school exams.
The rise of AI technology has sparked concerns among various industries, with workers worrying about the potential loss of jobs to automation.
