Aaron Judge’s impressive home run feat lifts Yankees out of slump

In a much-needed victory for the New York Yankees, their star player and 2022 MVP, Aaron Judge, delivered an outstanding performance in the Bronx on Wednesday night. Judge’s incredible career night included hitting three home runs in a single game, leading the Yankees to a 9-1 victory over the Washington Nationals. In fact, Judge was responsible for six of the team’s runs.

Prior to this win, the Yankees had been on a nine-game losing streak, their longest since 1982. The season had been described as a “disaster” by GM Brian Cashman, and the team was sitting at the bottom of the AL East with a 60-65 record.

Judge’s first at-bat set the tone for the game, as he launched a hanging breaking ball over the team’s bullpen in right center field. This monumental hit gave the Yankees their first lead in 61 innings and traveled an estimated distance of 431 feet at a speed of 111.3 mph.

The momentum continued for Judge in the second inning when he stepped back into the batter’s box with bases loaded. He wasted no time and sent a 94-mph fastball from Nationals’ pitcher Mackenzie Gore soaring to Monument Park in dead center field, extending the lead to 6-0 with a 437-foot homer and an exit velocity of 112.8 mph.

But Judge wasn’t finished yet. In the seventh inning, with the game already out of reach, he delivered once again by hitting a home run over the short porch in right field. This accomplishment was something Judge had never achieved before, despite his impressive career.

Judge’s three-homer night marked the 37th in Yankees history, and he now holds the fifth-most multi-homer games in team history with a total of 32. His performance not only energized the crowd at Yankee Stadium but also showcased his power and skill as a player.

It’s worth mentioning that Judge’s overall season has been notable, particularly considering the limited number of games he has played. With only 72 games under his belt, he has already hit 27 home runs, which ties him for fifth place in the American League. Since returning from a toe injury in June, Judge’s batting average has been .222, but he has managed to hit five homers and a double, along with eight RBIs in 22 games.

While Judge’s extraordinary performance may not be enough to salvage the Yankees’ season, fans will always appreciate and celebrate their captain’s ability to deliver an impressive display of power hitting.
