Professional eyelash extensions can be quite pricey, costing over $100 per set and requiring a 90-minute appointment. Despite the discomfort and cost, many people enjoy the look of fluttering eyelashes. Fortunately, I was able to discover a way to achieve the same results for less than $40 and in just 10 minutes from the comfort of my own home.
I stumbled upon a video on TikTok featuring a girl doing her own lash clusters, and I was impressed by how easy it looked. After deep-diving into eyelash-tok and trying out a few different brands, I settled on using Falscara bond and seal, along with Laubess lashes and a Kiss eyelash applicator.
The process is straightforward: apply the bond to the roots of your lashes, attach the lash cluster, and repeat until you have your desired amount of lashes. Then, go over the area with the sealant. The whole process takes 10 minutes, compared to the hour and a half it took at the salon.
However, I did make some rookie mistakes during my first attempt. I applied the bond to my entire lash like mascara, which caused debris to stick to my lashes. Curling your natural lashes with an eyelash curler before applying the extensions helped the new lashes blend in better. Additionally, I forgot to clamp my lashes together with the applicator at the end, causing some of the lashes to fall off after a couple of days.
With these adjustments, my DIY lashes can now last for at least a week. Though they may not last as long as professional extensions, the cost and convenience make it worth it to me. I’m about to do my lashes again before my upcoming vacation, and I don’t think I can ever go back to the salon!
