In a surprising turn of events for those who have been following the leaks, Capcom has officially announced that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be released for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on March 22nd next year.
The release date was first hinted at earlier this month when it appeared on the PEGI ratings website before being briefly revealed on Steam. Finally, during Capcom’s latest Dragon’s Dogma 2 showcase, the release date was confirmed by director Hideaki Itsuno and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi in a 15-minute livestream along with a new trailer featuring the colossal armoured soldier, Talos, emerging from the depths of the ocean.
During the livestream, Capcom also unveiled a new side quest in an elven enclave, a new character creator, the Trickster vocation, and more. Pre-orders for the game’s Standard and Deluxe Editions are now open, with the latter including a special camping kit and other items to “help you prepare for your journey”. Pre-ordering the Standard Edition comes with bonus weapons, while “additional accessories” are included with the Deluxe Edition.
Eurogamer’s Ian Higton, who previewed the game in September, noted that Dragon’s Dogma 2 “feels very similar to the original, for better and worse”, which is likely to excite fans of the first game ahead of its release on March 22nd for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
