A suspected property dispute in rural Colorado turned violent on Monday, resulting in three fatalities and one injured individual. The Custer County Sheriff’s Office reported that two men and one woman were fatally shot, while a woman who sustained injuries was being treated in a hospital trauma unit.
Authorities identified the suspect as Hanme K. Clark, who was driving a White Ram 1500 pickup truck with a topper and a Colorado license plate reading BHLK27. The incident took place near the town of Westcliffe, prompting a manhunt for the suspect.
The Sheriff’s office issued a shelter-in-place order for local residents and deployed a SWAT team to search for the suspect. The order was lifted later that evening, but the manhunt continued.
Officials revealed that the shooting occurred at 173 Rocky Ridge Road, in a wooded area on a property line. However, further details about the incident were not disclosed.
Custer County Coroner Brad Baltzly, who was on the scene, recounted the tense situation when they arrived, stating, “When we went in we could see the cabin above us we didn’t know if we were going to take fire from the cabin.” Baltzy and his deputy transported the injured woman to a hospital.
