JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) – The Jacksonville Jaguars bounced back from their worst loss of the season with a dominant 34-14 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Trevor Lawrence had a standout performance, accounting for four touchdowns, while Calvin Ridley had a breakout game with seven catches for 103 yards, finding the end zone twice.
Ridley’s impressive performance marked the first time with the Jaguars (7-3), and Lawrence also made history by becoming the first player in franchise history with two TD passes and two rushing scores in the same game. The Jaguars scored on five consecutive possessions, racking up 389 yards in the game. However, they had to settle for two red zone field goals, which prevented them from widening the point spread.
The Jaguars’ victory was much-needed after a series of disappointing home losses, and it was a stark contrast to the Titans, who have struggled away from home, falling to 0-6 on the road. Despite their efforts to rebound, the Titans were unable to overcome the Jaguars’ solid performance.
Rookie Will Levis made an impact for the Titans, connecting with DeAndre Hopkins for a 43-yard score and finding two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons for a 2-yard score. However, their efforts weren’t enough to turn the game in their favor. On the other hand, Lawrence completed 24 of 32 passes for 262 yards, showcasing a strong performance following a lackluster outing against the 49ers. Key injuries for the Titans included right tackle Chris Hubbard (elbow) being ruled out at halftime, and backup safeties K’Von Wallace (concussion protocol) and Terrell Edmunds (shoulder) leaving the game in the second half.
Looking ahead, the Titans will host Carolina next Sunday, while the Jaguars are set to play at Houston the same day.
