The students were traveling in a bus en route to a music performance while the adults were chaperones and a teacher. This fiery incident took place as the bus and an SUV collided just 19 miles away from their destination.
Conflicting reports concerning the number of injuries have surfaced. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that 18 individuals, including 15 students and the bus driver, were transported to local hospitals, while the school district stated 20 students received medical attention. The victims – John W. Mosely, 18, of Mineral City, Ohio; Jeffery D. Worrell, 18, of Bolivar; Katelyn N. Owens, 15, of Mineral City; Dave Kennat, 56, of Navarre; Kristy Gaynor, 39, of Zoar; and Shannon Wigfield, 45, of Bolivar – were tragically taken too soon, leaving their families and the school community shattered.
