The victim reported that someone attempted to steal their vehicle, leading to a struggle in which the suspect fired a shot.
“I had just got here when everything started popping off,” shopper Nate Ballarini told Channel 9′s Jonathan Lowe.
No one was injured, but the suspect pistol-whipped the victim, according to CMPD.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom observed multiple police units and a MEDIC vehicle outside the outlet mall in south Charlotte.

Officers were seen focusing on a Red Dodge Charger at the scene.
“Everybody started running out, and people started trying to zigzag and get out,” Ballarini said.
MEDIC confirmed that no one required hospitalization and no one was shot.
There have been no arrests made at this time.
The mall was open, but part of the parking lot was cordoned off with crime scene tape. There was no lockdown in effect.
“I had no idea when I went in,” Ballarini said. “There wasn’t anything but a security guard. There were no police at all. We just went on in and shopped.”
Police will continue to monitor the area.
