During an interview on Thursday, Kelly Clarkson revealed why Taylor Swift sends her flowers after each re-recording.
The Kelly Clarkson Show host shared during an interview with E! News that Taylor Swift recently sent her flowers after her 1989 (Taylor’s Version) release. “You know what’s so funny? She just sent me flowers,” Clarkson said. “She’s so nice. She did. She was like, ‘Every time I release something’—’cause she just did 1989. I got that really cute cardigan, too.”
As many Swifties know, in 2019, Kelly suggested in a tweet that Swift re-record her music after Scooter Braun‘s company Ithaca Holdings acquired Swift‘s original masters from Big Machine. Since then, Swift has been been re-recording albums from her catalog owned by Braun, and so far, she’s issued “Taylor’s Version” editions of 1989, Fearless, Red, and Speak Now—all of which have debuted at Number One on Billboard’s albums chart.

Clarkson also added that Swift would have eventually come up with the idea of her re-recordings, regardless of the 2019 tweet. “I love how kind she is though,” the American Idol alum said. “She’s a very smart businesswoman. So, she would have thought of that. But it just sucks when you see artists that you admire and you respect really wanting something and it’s special to them. You know if they’re going to find a loophole, you find a loophole. And she did it and literally is, like, the best-selling artist I feel like of all-time now.”
