Breaking News: Giants’ Star Quarterback Daniel Jones Suspected to Sustain Major Knee Injury during Crushing Defeat against Raiders

The Giants’ tumultuous season took a bleak turn on Sunday.

New York quarterback Daniel Jones is suspected to have sustained a significant knee injury, potentially a torn ACL, during the Giants’ harrowing 30-6 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, as reported by NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

Head coach Brian Daboll confirmed in his post-game press conference that Jones received an X-ray on-site and is scheduled for further tests on Monday.

Jones, fresh off a three-game absence due to a neck injury, experienced an awkward bend in his knee while evading a sack on the final play of the first quarter. Although he returned to the game, his right knee gave way once again during his next dropback.

“He felt like he buckled, and then he was running it off,” said Daboll regarding the sequence of events. “We approached him, spoke with him, and he indicated that he was fine. However, it became evident that he wasn’t.”

Jones, who had completed 4 of 9 passes for 25 yards before his departure, underwent evaluation in the blue medical tent before gingerly heading to the locker room. The Giants declared him out at the start of the third quarter.

In Jones’ absence, Tommy DeVito entered the game while the Giants trailed 7-0. Unfortunately, the deficit escalated to 24 by the time Jones’ day ended.

The undrafted rookie completed 15 of 20 passes for 175 yards, contributing one touchdown and two interceptions in relief. Despite his efforts, the Giants were unable to overcome the Raiders and Antonio Pierce, who served as Las Vegas’ interim head coach in his inaugural game.

Following the game, Jones was observed walking through the locker room without a limp or crutches, according to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan. However, concerns persist regarding the severity of his injury as the quarterback declined to field any questions from reporters.

The Giants await the news that Monday brings and, with backup Tyrod Taylor already on injured reserve, may find themselves in a precarious quarterback situation.
