Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Missy Elliott, and more iconic musicians were inducted into the prestigious Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony took place on Friday evening at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and featured incredible performances and heartfelt tributes from some of the music industry’s biggest stars.
The night began with an explosive performance by Sheryl Crow and Olivia Rodrigo, who rocked the stage with Crow’s hit song, “If It Makes You Happy.” The crowd was electrified as they played the guitar and showcased their talents.
Actress Laura Dern then took the stage to honor Sheryl Crow, praising her career, activism, and contributions to the music industry. A video tribute highlighting Crow’s remarkable career followed, featuring interviews from Maren Morris, Stevie Nicks, and Olivia Rodrigo. Crow later joined Stevie Nicks to perform “Strong Enough,” and the duo was joined by Peter Frampton for a captivating rendition of “Everyday Is a Winding Road.”
As she accepted her award, Crow expressed her gratitude and acknowledged her admiration for Willie Nelson, whom she considers one of her greatest inspirations. She thanked her parents for introducing her to various music legends, such as Duke Ellington and Carole King, and expressed her love for the journey that music has taken her on.
Grammy Award-winning R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan also took the stage to honor Chaka Khan, who received the musical excellence award. Khan wowed the audience with performances of her hit songs, including “I Feel For You” and “Ain’t Nobody,” joined by Common, Sia, and H.E.R.
Musician Dave Matthews paid tribute to the legendary Willie Nelson as he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Nelson expressed his gratitude and performed some of his biggest hits with Chris Stapleton, leaving the audience in awe.
The final artist to be inducted was Missy Elliott, who was honored by Queen Latifah. Elliott delivered an electrifying performance of her iconic hits, including “Get Ur Freak On” and “Work It.” She expressed her gratitude for the ups and downs of her career and credited her success to God and the incredible people she has met along the way.
The ceremony also featured notable moments such as Miguel, Adam Levine, and Carrie Underwood’s tribute to George Michael, and Elton John honoring his longtime collaborator, Bernie Taupin. In addition, artists like Kate Bush, Rage Against the Machine, and The Spinners were also inducted.
