Following a week-long trial, Chance was found guilty of second-degree murder, mutilation of a dead body, concealing a death, and tampering with evidence. They were charged with accessory after the fact and perjury for their actions when Chance contacted them and they drove to Grand Rapids to pick him up. Authorities discovered various suspicious items, including tools, cleaning supplies, and Young’s dismembered limbs, in their vehicle. Additional evidence was later found at their Holland home.
