Exclusive Sneak Peek: Witness the Enchanting CGI Seven Dwarves in Live-Action Snow White

Get a glimpse of Disney’s live-action Snow White, featuring digitally animated dwarves!

Disney revealed the first official image and announced a one-year delay, pushing the release date to March 21, 2025. Alongside Snow White, we also get our first look at Rachel Zegler as the princess, as well as Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy.

In my opinion, the dwarves exhibit an uncanny valley effect, as they strive to recreate the cartoony appearance from the 1937 original. Check out the image below and judge for yourself.

Unfortunately, the image does not include Gal Gadot, who will be portraying the Evil Queen in the movie.

The dwarves have faced controversy leading up to Snow White’s release. Peter Dinklage criticized Disney’s casting choices, stating:

“I was taken aback when they were proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White, but you’re still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs… You’re progressive in one way, but then you’re still making that backward story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together. What are you doing? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox?” Dinklage commented on Marc Maron’s WTF Podcast.

Disney responded to Dinklage’s criticism, assuring that they are taking a different approach with the seven dwarf characters and have consulted members of the dwarfism community to avoid reinforcing stereotypes.

There were rumors of non-dwarf actors portraying the dwarves, but it has been debunked. Disney has yet to disclose any cast information for the dwarves.

Snow White is directed by Marc Webb and written by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
