Samsung Reveals Zoom Anyplace Camera Teaser, Hinting at Its Inclusion in Galaxy S24 Ultra

Samsung has unveiled a groundbreaking technology called ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace that leverages its high-resolution 200-megapixel sensors to enhance video zoom capabilities. This impressive feature allows users to simultaneously capture both the full field of view and zoomed-in areas on video recordings. It also includes an automatic tracking function to keep the subject in focus as it moves within the frame. The initial teaser of Zoom Anyplace was presented by Samsung at a press conference earlier this month.

Although Samsung has not disclosed the specific devices that will support the new Zoom Anyplace feature, rumors suggest that it will be integrated into the upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra flagship smartphone, expected to be announced in early 2022.

While Samsung is not the first company to introduce such a zoom feature (Honor 90’s Solo Cut Mode was an earlier example), Samsung’s implementation stands out with its ability to record in 4K resolution even at a zoom level of up to 4x. In contrast, Honor’s version limited the resolution to 1080p for both videos.

Zoom Anyplace offers additional features such as mid-shot zoom control and the ability to focus on subjects near the edge of the frame. Samsung demonstrated this capability using its 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP2 sensor during the Samsung System LSI Tech Day 2023 event. The sensor was announced by Samsung in January 2023.

In addition to ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace, Samsung introduces another feature called “End-to-End (E2E) AI Remosaic.” This feature aims to reduce image processing times for 200-megapixel images by up to 50%. By executing remosaicing and image signal processing steps in parallel instead of sequentially, Samsung’s technology minimizes data loss and delivers photos with enhanced details and vibrant colors.

Samsung has not provided a specific release date for these features, but speculations suggest that the Galaxy S24 lineup could be launched as early as January 2024.
