Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota will be challenging President Biden for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2024. He is set to launch his campaign on Friday in New Hampshire, where he will file to appear on the state’s primary ballot.
In an exclusive interview with CBS News chief election & campaign correspondent Robert Costa for “CBS Mornings,” Phillips confirmed his decision to enter the Democratic race and stated that he believes it is time for a new generation of Democrats to lead the party. He expressed concerns about the possibility of President Trump winning the 2024 election if it becomes a rematch of the 2020 race.
