Authorities in South Carolina are on the lookout for a man who allegedly led deputies on a cross-county chase on Thursday. The incident began when the York County Sheriff’s Office pursued a stolen car down Highway 5 towards Indian Land at approximately 1 p.m.
The pursuit continued across the county line and ended with the suspect crashing in Ballantyne on Ardrey Kell Road, close to the state line.

Following the crash, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
At the crash site, Channel 9’s Almiya White observed a damaged car and a large area cordoned off with crime scene tape. A witness stated that the driver collided with a tree, narrowly missing her before crashing into a light pole and tree.
The witness reported seeing the man driving on the wrong side of the road in the stolen car as she was leaving the neighborhood.
Authorities have not released a description of the suspect or the charges he may face, but the search for him is still ongoing. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office are assisting in the investigation, with the York County Sheriff’s Office taking the lead.
