The U.S. Women’s National Team is gearing up for their next set of fall international friendlies after back-to-back wins over South Africa in September. Their first match will be against Colombia on Thursday, October 26, at America First Field in Sandy, Utah. The game will be broadcast nationally on TBS and Universo, and streamed in English on Max and in Spanish on Peacock.
In their previous September friendlies, the USWNT defeated South Africa 3-0 and 2-0, with goals from Trinity Rodman, Lynn Williams, and Emily Sonnett. These were the team’s first matches since the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Now, they are preparing to face Colombia, who haven’t played since their historic run to the World Cup quarterfinals.
After the match in Sandy, the teams will head to San Diego for their second friendly on October 29 at Snapdragon Stadium. This game will be presented by AT&T 5G and can be watched on TNT, Max, Telemundo, Universo, Peacock, and FDP Radio. Out of the 27 players called up by interim head coach Twila Kilgore for the October friendlies, only three were not part of the September friendlies. Veteran defender Becky Sauerbrunn returns to the roster after recovering from a foot injury, while forward Sophia Smith is back in action following a minor knee injury. The youngest addition to the roster is 18-year-old midfielder Olivia Moultrie, who earns her first call-up to the senior National Team.
The match in Sandy will be the eighth time the USA plays in Utah, and the sixth time at America First Field. The U.S. has won all previous seven matches in Utah, including a 2-0 victory over Colombia on June 28, 2022. This game holds significance for players Ashley Morgan, Ashley Hatch, Casey Krueger, Andi Sullivan, and Lynn Williams, as they all made their USWNT debuts in Sandy.
The USWNT has had an impressive defensive record this year, allowing only two goals. With just four games left in 2023, they have a chance to set a record for fewest goals allowed in a single year.
