The Masked Singer recently aired a Harry Potter-themed episode, just in time for Halloween. Group B’s contestants took the opportunity to perform magical cover songs, bringing an enchanting atmosphere to the stage. However, despite the Hawk’s punk/pop twist on the Police’s “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” he landed in the bottom two. His rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Monster” during the Smackdown sing-off against Tiki, who delivered an even harder-rocking performance, resulted in his elimination. It was time for the Hawk to slyther home.
The judges made various guesses about the Hawk’s identity, suggesting he might be Ryan Phillippe, Chad Michael Murray, Andrew Garfield, Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day, Cole Sprouse, Pete Wentz, Corey Feldman, or Austin Butler. A clue referencing Miley Cyrus made me think the Hawk could be Mason Musso or Trace Cyrus from Metro Station. Surprisingly, the Hawk turned out to be former Teen Wolf actor Tyler Posey, a reveal that caught everyone off guard. Tyler’s involvement in emo bands like Disappearing Jamie, PVMNTS, and Five North added an interesting twist. Dressing up as an actual wolf would have been too obvious for him.
“I was very flattered that you guys thought I was Billie Joe Armstrong,” Tyler confessed to the judges. However, he admitted feeling a bit hurt by his elimination due to his competitive nature.
While my guess for the Hawk was off, I am confident in my other Group B predictions this week, particularly in identifying the new competitor, Sea Queen. Let’s marvel at my impressive guessing abilities below.
Husky, “Superfreak”
“The Husky got super-freaky… and we liiiiked it!” exclaimed Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg. This dog showed off his raw canine energy and soulful charisma, captivating the audience.
The clues hinted at the Husky’s transformation from a skinny pup who was once teased, to a husky heartthrob that skyrocketed up the charts. He inspired lovemaking and left a remarkable impact on the female species. Other clues included a red rose, a deck of playing cards, a chocolate bar, a merry-go-round, a platinum album, Mother Nature from The Masked Singer Season 6 (aka Vivica A. Fox), and a connection to P. Diddy.
The judges speculated that the Husky could be Tank, Ginuwine, or Brian McKnight.
In my opinion, Nicole Scherzinger hit the nail on the head with her guess. The Husky is indeed 53-year-old R&B sex symbol and “Carousel” crooner Ginuwine, who collaborated with Diddy on “I Need a Girl (Part 2).” Even though he didn’t dress as a Pony, all the clues align perfectly.
Tiki, “Magic”
This rockstar delivered a retro performance of Pilot’s 1974 powerpop classic that enchanted the audience. “I felt like for a moment Freddie Mercy came back – that’s how powerful that vocal was,” praised Nicole.
According to the clues, Tiki always dreamed of becoming a rockstar, and he made that dream come true by selling millions of records and touring worldwide. His “loose mouth” got him into trouble, jeopardizing his career, but he eventually cleaned up his act, embraced fatherhood, and left his hard-partying lifestyle behind. Visual clues included a monkey, the word “snooze,” a skull, a globe, and a piano. Tiki also mentioned his ability to provide a good laugh when someone is feeling down.
The judges suggested Dave Grohl, Jon Bon Jovi, Roger Daltrey, and Robert Plant as possible identities for Tiki.
Personally, I am confident that this is Sebastian Bach, the former frontman of Skid Row known for his wild and outspoken personality. He cosplayed as Freddie Mercury before and covered Lady Gaga, making it a natural fit for him. Plus, he is undeniably funny, as proven in a memorable Yahoo Entertainment interview from 2017.
Sea Queen, “Love Potion No. 9”
The addition of this wild-card contestant to Group B brought a legendary and old-school diva vocal to the stage. “There’s a global superstar under that mask,” declared Nicole, with Robin Thicke agreeing that the voice was truly special.
The clues painted a picture of a wildcard character, starting with her dismissal from a museum guide job and expulsion from a fancy boarding school as a teenager. She is a triple-threat, excelling in comedy, writing, and singing. She has dabbled in various musical genres and is preparing to embark on a tour. Visual clues included a spider, a handbag with fashion-model silhouettes, and a ’90s-style portable CD boombox.
The judges offered guesses like Erykah Badu, Queen Latifah, and Jennifer Lewis.
Based purely on the distinctiveness of her voice, my guess for this captivating performer is Macy Gray, a genre-hopping ’90s star. The clues also line up, with Macy attending boarding school, studying screenwriting at USC, landing comedy roles, appearing in the first Spider-Man movie, and planning a tour. She also competed as the Atlantis on The Masked Singer Australia, and there are striking similarities between her and the Sea Queen. The evidence points to Macy Gray as the true identity underneath the mask.
