In a thrilling match at Stamford Bridge, we staged a remarkable comeback from two goals down to maintain our unbeaten start to the season. Goals from Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard sealed a hard-fought point.
The hosts took control early on when Cole Palmer converted a penalty in the 14th minute. And just after halftime, Mykhailo Mudryk extended their lead with a clever effort that caught us off guard.
But we found inspiration with 13 minutes remaining, as Rice unleashed a stunning 30-yard strike to bring us back into the game. Then, on the 83rd minute, Trossard finished a brilliant delivery from Bukayo Saka to complete the comeback.
Palmer’s Early Penalty
Chelsea dominated the first half and capitalized on their advantage when they were awarded a VAR-assisted penalty. William Saliba’s challenge on Mudryk saw the ball strike his arm, leading to the penalty. Palmer confidently converted from 12 yards to score against us for the second time this season.
We struggled to make our presence felt in the game, and Palmer came close to doubling Chelsea’s lead with a powerful shot that narrowly missed the target.
Mudryk’s Magic
In the second half, Mudryk produced a moment of magic, surprising us with a cross-cum-shot that sailed over our goalkeeper and into the net. This further threatened our unbeaten record, but we responded with determination.
Bukayo Saka had a fortunate opportunity when his corner took a wicked swerve, forcing the Chelsea goalkeeper to make a save. Gabriel also had a chance from the resulting corner, but his header went wide.
A Quickfire Comeback
Desperate for a breakthrough, we finally found it when Rice intercepted a weak pass from Sanchez and curled a magnificent first-time effort into the net. This goal injected new life into the team and paved the way for our equalizer.
Just six minutes later, Trossard met Saka’s delightful cross at the back post and guided it past the Chelsea goalkeeper, sparking wild celebrations from our traveling supporters.
Eddie Nketiah had a chance to snatch victory, but his effort narrowly missed the target. In the end, we had to settle for a hard-fought draw.

This was the first time since March 2021 that we avoided defeat in a Premier League away game in which we trailed by 2+. Our previous eight matches in such situations had ended in defeat.
Chelsea have struggled at home in the Premier League, winning just once in their last 12 games. Their victory against Luton in August is their only home win during this period.
