Twitch Enhances Live Streaming Experience: Streamers Now Able to Simultaneously Broadcast on Multiple Platforms

Twitch has recently made an exciting announcement. The platform will now allow its creators to stream simultaneously on any live streaming service. This update was revealed during TwitchCon, where the company shared a range of news. Previously, Twitch streamers could only simulcast on mobile platforms like TikTok and Instagram. However, with this new feature, streamers now have the ability to go live on a significantly broader range of platforms. However, it’s important to note that this is only possible if the streamers don’t have an exclusivity agreement in place with Twitch.

In recent times, some notable Twitch streamers have been exploring opportunities on other platforms. Prominent personalities such as xQc, Amouranth, and Nickmercs have signed major deals with Twitch competitor Kick this year. Both xQc’s and Nickmercs’ contracts are non-exclusive, and based on a video on Amouranth’s Twitch account a couple of months ago, it seems she is also not exclusively tied to Twitch. Ninja, on the other hand, dropped his exclusive contract with Twitch in September 2022 to simulcast on multiple platforms. It’s worth mentioning that he recently had dinner with Twitch CEO Dan Clancy and seems pleased with the latest news from Twitch.

Twitch has provided some guidelines for its new simulcasting policy, which can be found in a support document. According to these guidelines, streamers must ensure that the quality of their streams on Twitch is comparable to that on other platforms or services. Streamers are advised against sharing links to their Twitch community on other platforms’ simulcasts. However, they are still allowed to include links to third-party websites on their Twitch About pages. It’s important to note that streamers cannot use third-party services to merge chat across platforms.

Twitch has also revealed some exciting product changes. Guest Star, which allows streamers to host co-streams with others, will now be called Stream Together and will include features like merged chats. Twitch is currently testing a version of its TikTok-style Discovery Feed that highlights live channels. Additionally, Twitch’s alerts system, which notifies streamers about subscribers and Bits donations, will soon support custom animated emotes.
