Officially confirmed, the new Fortuner will feature a mild-hybrid powertrain, set to be available in all markets. The anticipated 48v mild-hybrid powertrain will also be offered in the new Hilux. Toyota has additionally showcased the E100 capable Fortuner, designed to run on 100% ethanol. However, mainstream availability of this version may take some time. The introduction of the Fortuner mild-hybrid aligns with Toyota’s commitment to providing effective alternatives to fully electric vehicles.
The Fortuner mild-hybrid will be paired with the 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine, currently delivering 204 PS of maximum power. Torque output reaches 420 Nm with the manual transmission and 500 Nm with the automatic option. The Fortuner is also available with the 2.7-litre petrol engine, generating 166 PS and 245 Nm, and comes with a choice of 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmissions. The global debut of the new-gen Fortuner is expected early next year, with an estimated mid-2024 launch in India. Notably, the major updates introduced with the next-gen Fortuner may result in an increase in prices.
