Looking to sell her Manhattan property, internationally acclaimed celebrity portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz has listed her two-story Upper West Side co-op for $8.6 million. Leibovitz purchased the 3,500-square-foot property at the Brentmore in 2014 for $11.3 million, with intentions of being closer to her daughters’ school, as reported by the New York Times. Originally priced at $14.5 million, the property underwent several renovations during Leibovitz’s ownership, including the creation of separate office and living room library spaces, as well as updates to a guest bedroom and bathroom. Deborah Kern of the Corcoran Group, who holds the listing, describes the property as “priced to sell.”
Leibovitz explains that she is selling the property because it has become too big for her needs. Her three daughters are now grown, and she lives and works downtown while maintaining her family home in affluent Rhinebeck, upstate New York. However, the Central Park-facing unit was ideal for raising her children, with the park serving as their front yard for activities like bike riding and ice skating. One of her daughters even walked across the park to school every day.
Aside from its prime location, the home boasts several original details, including arched doorways in the entrance gallery, a coffered ceiling in the dining room, and a decorative fireplace in the spacious living room. Other features of the property include an eat-in kitchen with a butler’s pantry, a grand staircase leading to the upper level where the primary suite is located, and a gym, doorman, and attended lobby within the building, which was developed in 1910.
