  • David Beckham, the renowned soccer star, is also a passionate Lego enthusiast.
  • Beckham has expressed his love for Lego on numerous occasions.
  • According to his former teammate Ben Foster, Beckham would often unwind with a Lego set in his room after training sessions.

David Beckham, the globally recognized soccer star admired for his fashion sense, is also an ardent Lego enthusiast.

During a 2020 appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Beckham enthusiastically discussed his affinity for the iconic plastic brick toys.

“I absolutely love Lego,” Beckham shared with host Jimmy Fallon. “It’s something I loved as a child, and I continue to enjoy it even now.”

His passion for Lego runs so deep that his wife Victoria would often discover him awake in the early hours of the morning, engrossed in assembling Lego sets intended for children.

“Victoria always laughs at me,” the former soccer player revealed. “She would come downstairs at around 2 o’clock in the morning and find me trying to complete a Lego piece.”

The 48-year-old fondly recalled how his wife playfully teased him about his hobby on Instagram, although he embraced it wholeheartedly.

“She recently posted something about it. The Lego set was marked ’11 years and above,’ and she joked, ‘You’re still up at 2 o’clock in the morning, working on your 11-years-and-above Lego?'” Beckham shared with Fallon. “Building Lego brings me a sense of calm.”

This is not the first time Beckham has publicly expressed his love for Lego. In 2007, the former Manchester United player documented his journey of constructing a 4,000-piece Lego replica of a Disney castle for his daughter, Harper.

As it turns out, Beckham’s Lego hobby was equally prominent during his active soccer career.

During a podcast appearance in July, his former England teammate Ben Foster revealed that Beckham would often unwind in his room with a Lego set.

“He used to bring Lego sets even when we were with the England team,” Foster shared. “He would retreat to his room and spend the entire night building Lego sets. It helped him relax and enjoy himself.”

In a 2014 interview with The Times, Beckham described building Lego as a “therapeutic” activity.

“If I wasn’t a footballer, I would love to draw cartoons and build Lego with my sons,” Beckham confessed. “I know it may not be a career, but I genuinely enjoy it.”
