Manhattan Beach Jewelry Store Robbery: Five Suspects Flee After Employee Fires Shot
In a shocking incident, a Manhattan Beach jewelry store was targeted by five suspects on Saturday. The suspects, wearing hoodies and armed with hammers, smashed showcases at Prestige Jewelers on N. Sepulveda Blvd. During the robbery, some jewelry was taken. However, an employee bravely fired a shot in their direction, causing the suspects to flee the store and escape in waiting vehicles. The getaway vehicles were last seen heading southbound on Sepulveda Boulevard.
Fortunately, no employees were injured during the incident. It is unclear whether any of the suspects sustained injuries. Notably, the Gardena and El Segundo police departments provided valuable assistance to the Manhattan Beach Police Department in responding to the robbery.
In light of the recent loss of Officer Chad Swanson, who tragically passed away in a crash on the San Diego (405) Freeway, Manhattan Beach remains committed to the safety of its residents. Mayor Richard Montgomery expressed his gratitude to the Gardena and El Segundo police departments for their support and efforts to bring the offenders to justice.
