Tab Baldwin, the head coach of Ateneo, revealed that his team relies more on their own in-depth analytics rather than the league-produced statistics when analyzing their games.

“… I carry this thing (stat sheet) around and we hardly look at it. We have our own set of stats based on analytics and that means so much more,” stated Baldwin.

It’s difficult to find where a birthday wish fits in a statistical sheet, but that’s exactly what Adamson attributed their victory to against the defending champions.

“I prayed early this morning and wished for a win today. My prayers were answered,” said Vince Magbuhos, who hit the game-winning three-pointer in overtime to secure Adamson’s 74-71 triumph over the Blue Eagles in the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Notably, it was an eventful day for Magbuhos, who celebrated his 24th birthday and made a memorable shot.

Adamson coach Nash Racela shared, “When Vince shot the ball, I asked the Lord to reward him because it’s his birthday. So this game is really for birthday boy Vince.”

In other games, the undefeated University of the Philippines (UP) dominated National University with a balanced attack to win 78-60. Meanwhile, De La Salle University (DLSU) vented their frustration and secured a 91-71 victory against the winless University of Santo Tomas (UST).
