This weekend, Dublin Airport is anticipating the arrival of around 20,000 rugby fans who will be travelling to Paris for the Ireland vs. Scotland clash. The airport has issued a warning to Irish rugby fans about the limited parking available during this time.
The Stade de France in the French capital will host the final Irish test in Pool B, with kick off set for 8pm (Irish time) on Saturday. Irish fans have been enthusiastically travelling to support the team, who remain undefeated in the Rugby World Cup.
In the days leading up to the match, Dublin Airport expects approximately 20,000 rugby fans to fly through its gates. Following the match against South Africa, around 25,000 passengers arrived back at the airport the following day between 6pm and midnight.
However, the Dublin Airport Authority (daa) has recently issued an update warning rugby fans about the limited parking options available this weekend. “Flying over to the rugby this weekend?” they stated. “Demand for our car parks is high with only limited spaces available.” A search currently shows that all parking spaces are sold out for this weekend. The warning advises those with sold-out dates to plan for drop-off or to use alternative transportation methods such as buses or taxis, as space for those without a parking booking cannot be guaranteed.
The Irish Independent conducted a search today and found that there are no remaining car parking spots if booking from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening. Dublin Airport’s website explains that each car park has a quota of pre-booked spaces and a limited number of drive-up spaces, which may not be available during busy travel periods. Therefore, they encourage travellers to consider alternative modes of transport to reach the airport.
For those looking to travel to the airport, Dublin Airport is easily accessible by over 1,000 buses and coaches on a daily basis, providing transportation to various areas in and around Dublin, as well as towns and cities across Ireland.
