YG Entertainment, the agency of Blackpink, has announced the release of Jennie’s highly anticipated new solo single, “You & Me,” scheduled for October 6. This will mark Jennie’s second solo release, following her debut solo single “Solo” in 2018.
The release of “You & Me” is set for 1 p.m. on October 6, serving as an official release of the song that Jennie previously performed during Blackpink’s world tour.
In a statement, YG Entertainment stated, “We have decided to release the song officially as a special gift to the fans who attended the ‘Born Pink’ world tour. We hope the song will allow them to relive the sensational experience from back then.”
The announcement comes amidst speculation about Blackpink’s future with YG Entertainment, as the members’ contracts were rumored to have expired in August. When asked about the new song’s release in relation to Jennie’s contract, a YG public relations official stated that it cannot be confirmed and reiterated that no decisions have been made regarding contract renewals for Blackpink.
Blackpink recently concluded their record-breaking “Born Pink” tour, which included sold-out shows at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul and amassed a total of 1.8 million tickets sold worldwide. The group also performed at prestigious music festivals such as Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California and the British Summer Time festival in London.
