Oct. 4 (UPI) — RuPaul has revealed his debut memoir.
The iconic drag performer and producer, renowned for creating and hosting the beloved reality competition series RuPaul’s Drag Race, is set to publish The House of Hidden Meanings in March 2024.
RuPaul made the announcement in an emotionally stirring video on Instagram, released on Wednesday.
“The moment has arrived… to unveil my memoir, The House of Hidden Meanings. Penning this book left me speechless, astounded, and emotionally exposed,” he captioned the post. “I’ve come to understand that vulnerability is power, although at present, all I feel is a bundle of nerves, yet supremely thrilled to share it with all of you. When it’s all said and done, it’s just me, Ru.”
Drag Race judges Michelle Visage and Carson Kressley expressed their support for RuPaul in the comments section.
“Your true self is everything we ever needed,” Visage wrote.
“Condragulations! I can’t wait to dive into this literary journey,” Kressley stated. “So thrilled and proud of you, Sis!”
The House of Hidden Meanings will narrate RuPaul’s personal odyssey of “growing up Black, impoverished, and queer in a fractured household, to the discovery of the influence of performance, unconditional chosen family, and self-acceptance.”
“If we all enter this world naked and the rest is simply a masquerade, then this is RuPaul completely exposed. This is RuPaul baring it all,” elucidates an official description.
RuPaul’s Drag Race was renewed for a 16th season on MTV in August. The show originally premiered on Logo in 2009 and has subsequently spawned multiple spinoffs, including All Stars and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
