A Paris Fashion Week show took an unexpected turn when a model dressed as a giant fur ball caused chaos, colliding with guests in the front row and narrowly missing a collision with Sam Smith during his live performance.
The incident occurred at Christian Cowan’s Ready To Wear Spring 2024 show, held at the American Cathedral in Paris. Cowan’s latest collection featured several bold and unconventional looks, but none were as attention-grabbing as the gigantic fur ball.
Video footage of the show, shared by fashion watchdog Diet Prada, captured the disoriented model losing her way on the runway while Sam Smith performed. The model, struggling to maintain balance in chunky platform boots, approached Smith before being pushed away to avoid a collision.
The model then made her way towards the front row, briefly crashing into seated guests before hitting the cathedral altar. She was ultimately “rescued” by show organizers.
Sam Smith responded to Diet Prada’s post, humorously writing, “WE HAD A BALL.”
Christian Cowan also saw the humorous side of the incident and compared his model’s chaotic walk to Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” music video. He assured everyone that no models were harmed and tagged the model, Mi’Jon, in his Instagram post.
On Mi’Jon’s Instagram stories, behind-the-scenes footage showed her being assisted by multiple people to stand up while wearing the fur ball outfit.
Representatives for Cowan and Mi’Jon have not responded to requests for comment.
