Cyrusher has been on a mission to offer “quality bikes made in China to international markets at great prices” since 2014. Now the company is venturing into the electric watersports industry with their latest innovation, the Thunder electric surfboard.
Cyrusher, a clever combination of the words cycling and rusher, has gained attention for their competitively priced ebikes like the Ranger and Nitro. Now, they are giving thrill-seeking water enthusiasts the opportunity to “feel the wind in your hair, the spray of the sea on your face and the rush of the open water under your feet.”
The Thunder board is powered by a 5-kW electric motor, capable of peaking at 10 kW. It utilizes a jet pump system to achieve speeds of up to 70 km/h (43.5 mph). This impressive speed sets it apart from Awake’s Rävik S, a pricier alternative. Throttle control is achieved through a trigger handle attached to the front of the board. With a 3,600-Wh battery, it can provide approximately one hour of e-surfing for every 2-3 hours of charging.

The Thunder board measures 1.68 m long and 0.58 m wide (5.5 x 1.9 ft) and promises to deliver a smooth glide through the water. Though it does not have the hydrofoil feature to rise above choppy waters like some other boards, riders looking to chase after turbulent waves at high speeds will be able to appreciate every chop. In the event of a fall, the motor will automatically shut off for safety.
Despite its high-performance design, Cyrusher emphasizes that the Thunder electric surfboard is suitable for riders of all levels. The company stated in a blog post that “The Thunder is easily portable and provides a seamless riding experience for beginners, serving as an ideal choice for those looking to smoothly enter the world of electric surfboarding. Experienced surfers, on the other hand, will find delight in Thunder’s impressive surfing capabilities.”
The Thunder weighs 39 kg (~86 lb) including the removable battery or 18 kg on its own, with a maximum weight capacity of 120 kg (264.5 lb). It is currently on sale for $9,999, discounted from its original list price of $11,999. Check out the video below for more information.
