Sept. 26 (UPI) — A creative New Jersey business owner has found a unique way to pay tribute to drivers who get their vehicles stuck in the sand at a Jersey Shore beach. Andrew Grossman, the owner of Rip Tide Bait and Tackle in Brigantine, captures photos of these unlucky drivers and transforms them into a one-of-a-kind calendar.

This peculiar and captivating calendar project began a few years ago when Grossman started sharing the photos on the store’s Facebook page. The images quickly gained attention and generated a significant amount of interest.

“It’s truly astonishing how many people attempt to drive their cars on that beach,” said Grossman in an interview with WPVI-TV.

After a suggestion from someone, Grossman decided to turn these intriguing photographs into calendars. The first calendar was printed for the year 2021 and was met with great success.

As time goes on, Grossman’s collection of photos continues to grow. He already has enough material to create a crowded 2024 calendar. “I did 2021, 2022, 2023. 2023 is already out. I already have enough for 2024. I might do two per page,” Grossman shared. “They’re telling me to do baseball cards. The biggest question is always, ‘What were they thinking?'”

Visitors are technically allowed to drive vehicles with four-wheel drive on the beach if they have a special permit. However, warning signs are frequently disregarded, resulting in cars quickly sinking into the sand.

In a generous gesture, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the new calendar will be donated to local families in need.
