Fairs + Festivals September 24, 2023
Hot air balloon enthusiasts came together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Adirondack Balloon Festival in a unique and creative way. Instead of a traditional cake, they had a special hot air balloon shaped like a birthday cake with the words “Happy 50th Birthday.” This festive event took place at the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport in Queensbury, New York.
Unfortunately, the weather conditions with rain and unfavorable wind direction prevented the planned mass ascension of over 90 balloons. However, the dedicated balloon operators still managed to tether their balloons to the ground and inflate them, giving the early risers an opportunity to admire the various balloon shapes on display.
