Unleashing Pinoy Power: Witness the Astonishing Strength of a Filipino Bodybuilder

Meet Alexislee Aznar Abule: A Unique Journey in Bodybuilding

Bodybuilding is often the subject of memes and stereotypes, portraying athletes as arrogant and unintelligent. However, there are exceptional individuals who break these stereotypes, like Alexislee Aznar Abule. As a former teacher in Bangkok and an experienced bodybuilder, Lee has shattered these misconceptions and proven that bodybuilding is not just about muscles, but also about discipline, dedication, and passion.

In September 2018, Lee participated in the prestigious Thailand Muscle and Physique Championships organized by the Thailand Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Association (TBPA). The competition showcased local bodybuilders aiming to join the national team. Despite fierce competition, Lee emerged victorious, claiming first place.

Behind the scenes, Lee relied on my assistance for his tanning, as he couldn’t reach certain areas of his body. His dedication extended beyond tanning; he followed a strict diet low in carbohydrates and took occasional sips of water to maintain his vascular and ripped physique, boasting an impressive 5% body fat.

Lee’s journey in bodybuilding began with a desire to transform himself. He was once thin and faced bullying, with friends playfully cautioning him against electric fans. Determined to change, he found a gym in Cainta, Rizal and started working out. Despite three months of self-training, he realized the importance of rest days and sought guidance from renowned trainers Jonathan Casimiro and Roman “Dondon” Cortuna, both legendary bodybuilders themselves.

Since then, Lee has achieved remarkable success in various local and international bodybuilding competitions. He has made his mark in countries like Russia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, consistently winning top honors. Lee is also a four-time Southeast Asian Champion in his weight category and a proud member of the International Federation of Bodybuilders (IFBB) Elite Pro Classic Bodybuilder.

Lee’s dedication to bodybuilding led him to make a bold decision – leaving his job at a chocolate company in the Philippines. He described bodybuilding as an “addicting and selfish sport” that demands significant time investment and adherence to strict training and nutrition regimens. Despite the challenges, Lee believes that bodybuilding opens doors to various opportunities that can ultimately change one’s life.

The fitness trend is growing rapidly in the Philippines, with Filipinos increasingly recognizing the importance of health and well-being. However, many individuals, particularly women, often abandon their fitness journeys due to concerns about appearing too muscular. Lee understands these worries and tailors his programs to cater to the goals of his female clients, emphasizing the importance of a balanced approach to training and nutrition.

Although bodybuilding has faced controversies, particularly regarding the use of performance-enhancing drugs, passionate individuals like Lee continue to champion the sport. Despite setbacks in the 2021 SEA Games, Lee remains hopeful that bodybuilding will gain recognition and support from the national government, similar to basketball.

Aged 39, Lee is still at the pinnacle of his career. He has set his sights on securing a gold medal for the Philippines in the upcoming SEA Games, after which he plans to retire. Lee’s journey in bodybuilding is a testament to perseverance, overcoming stereotypes, and breaking barriers. He serves as an inspiration to aspiring bodybuilders and a reminder that hard work and dedication can lead to extraordinary achievements.
