Defying the Odds: Jermaine Pennant’s Intense Battle against Matt Hancock on SAS Show

West Suffolk MP, Matt Hancock, Stars in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins Line-Up

The West Suffolk MP, Matt Hancock, is set to take part in the biggest line-up of the Channel 4 reality show, Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. Alongside 16 other famous faces, including Gareth Gates, Melinda Messenger, and James Argent, Hancock will endure the rigorous jungle phase of SAS selection in Thung Ui, north Vietnam.

During an interview, Jermaine Pennant, another contestant on the show, divulged that his focus during the competition with Hancock was simply not to lose. Pennant stated, “It probably doesn’t matter about the fight…do not (be on) the losing side because I would not be allowed to walk the streets again. I was just very grateful that I won and I saved face.”

Instructors Mark “Billy” Billingham, Chris Oliver, Rudy Reyes, Remi Adeleke, and Jason “Foxy” Fox have expressed their opinions about the experience of working with Hancock. Billingham, who did not participate in the show, claimed that they did not have enough time to fully understand Hancock. He remarked, “We wanted to really know who he was going for…and his decision making…and yeah, we pushed as far as we could to get it out of him…I guess a nation does want to know, so we got as far as we could with him but it was hard work.”

Rudy Reyes, a former United States marine, revealed that he wanted to get to know Hancock because “nobody likes him.” He observed Hancock’s inability to handle criticism and his dislike for receiving orders, stressing the importance of sticking to the training schedule and avoiding distractions.

Hancock faced consequences for his appearance on the reality show, including losing the Tory whip and having his earnings from reality programs exposed on the MPs’ register of interests. His stint on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in the Australian jungle earned him £320,000 last year, with £10,000 donated to charity. He made additional donations to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk and the British Dyslexia Association from his fee. Hancock stated that the £10,000 given away exceeded his monthly salary as an MP, which is approximately £7,000.

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins returns to Channel 4 on September 26th at 9:30 PM, with subsequent episodes airing on Sundays from October 1st.
